Apprenticeship Training Applicable contractors
bidding on projects must be participating in a bona-fide apprenticeship training
program recognized by the US Department of Labor and /or the Ohio State Apprenticeship
Council.

Certifications. Applicable
contractors bidding on projects must show either a valid contractor’s license,
certification from the Ohio Construction Industry Examining Board or a registration of
certification from an Ohio Basic Building Code entity.
·
Compliance with the Fair Labor Standards Act and Regulatory Agencies. Proof of the fair and lawful treatment of
employees including compliance with age, hour and wage laws. Also a complete history
of compliance with the Minority Standards, EPA, OSHA, and any other applicable
regulatory agencies.

Outstanding References. Relevant information from people or entities in
charge of past projects. Also, information
should be provided from other contractors or subcontractors in relation to overall
cooperation on past projects under said contractor’s supervision.

Understanding of the Project. Proof of successful completion of similar
projects. Contractors and skilled trades
workers must have experience in the work they are bidding on.
·
Necessary Financial Capacity. Proof of financial capacity, bank references
and the presentation of any information regarding relevant outstanding claims or
judgments.

Trained in Safety. All construction professionals actually doing
work on the project must have participated in a verifiable safety program.
·
Alcohol and Drug free workforce. Applicable contractors bidding on projects must
have a comprehensive drug policy.
·
Benefit Programs. Contractors have offered their employees
participation in health and pension or retirement plans.
·
Insurance. Proof of relevant
insurance coverage and compliance with applicable worker’s compensation statutes.
·
Local Workforce. A percentage of the contractor’s or
subcontractor’s workforce, actually working on the project, comes from the local
area or at least
Ohio
.
·
Illness and Accident Rates. Complete history of major accidents or
illnesses occurring on past projects under said contractor’s supervision.
·
Trained and Experienced Workers. All construction professionals actually doing
the work must be journeymen or registered apprentices.
